My Cute Terror

Has anyone out there experienced a climbing, running, curious 10-month-old boy? My son, Jake, is the classic, stereotypical example of a boy. He is very active, into EVERYTHING, loves getting dirty and being outside, DO NOT take away his ball -his most prized toys (he knows how to say Ball and DaDa - where is the Mommy?), climbs up onto chairs and tables, even pulls himself up onto the beds and couches -they are all challenges to overcome, eats anything you give him, runs around like a bandit and man is he fast!, tries to destroy anything his sister is working on, and has the oh so cute, mischievous grin as he goes about exploring. He is also a Daddy's boy (unless he wants to eat or sleep) and follows him around endlessly. He cries if Daddy doesn't pick him up right away when he gets home - and believe me he'll hear Dad's voice the minute he comes home no matter where he is - Good luck if you're changing a diaper, because Jake will zoom off the edge of the bed to get to Dad if you don't catch him first. He loves to be in the garage with Dad and playing with all his greasy tools. He doesn't like to be kissed or cuddled much, except when he's tired, and he loves anything that makes a lot of noise. Boy that is so fun to pull out all the pans in Mom's cupboard and bang them around the kitchen! And did you know that grapes are great for spitting out little pieces all over the house? And we all know how he loves to play in recyclables. Now, I remember a couple of my girls being active, little, terrors, but I think Jake has got to be running for an award here. Should I be having to chase around a 10-month-old all day? All I can say is I'll be glad when the Phoenix weather cools off and I can let him run outside! We need a huge backyard, or a park nearby. Doug's Mom tells me he is a lot like Doug- we need to start disaster planning now. Ha ha.

  1. Hi Didi, my wife and I have five kids as well - four boys and one girl. I found your blog looking for people who love to read. If you enjoy fantasy, can I suggest one to try? "Outcasts Of Skagaray" is an action adventure fantasy which you can preview by reading the sample chapters on www.threeswans.com.au I would be delighted if you read and enjoyed it; but whatever happens, best wishes. My blog is http://threeswans.blogspot.com if you feel like visiting.
