Happy Halloween!

We started out Halloween preparations Thursday night with carving the pumpkins we had gotten at the festival. Of course, Rebecca was not able to get the proper gutting form until she was on TOP of the kitchen table. (for heavens sake)

John thought the whole gutting thing was disgusting and subsequently turned that over to me. He has always been a neat child that didn't like mess on his hands. Pretty funny.

Leyna loved her little pumpkin (even though it got scarred by some animal outside).

Katrina was the oppostite of John. She LOVED gutting the pumpkin!

Next, we lighted them up outside to see our Jack-O-Lanterns.

Yay! It's Halloween and time for the school parties and dress-up! Katrina was a mermaid and Rebecca went with a smarty pants cat (because she's so humble :) and yet fun and spunky at the same time - watch out for those claws though! Ha Ha ha)

She wants me to make sure you notice the "Smarties" attached to her pants.

John is a lonely and deprived soul and his Mom doesn't feed him too well evidently (Dad told him he could fry him the cockroaches next time) so the poor Hobo went crusading out on the playground.

(He actually got a dollar - I guess for a McDonald's .99 cents meal)

Leyna was a pretty little fairy. I had gone with the dollar store on this one (NEVER again will I do that!) The crown broke the morning of Halloween, and the wings broke in half after the school party, but it was fine for maybe an hour. Oh well.

A sweet moment with my two little ones!

Getting ready on the playground for the party! Rebecca and her friends, Hannah and Riley (the mad-hatter).

John with friends Chris and Clayton in his classroom.

Katrina with friends Mariah, Jaycee, and Mia.

I particuarly liked the Blue Man Group kid! There were some really creative costumes as the children got older.

Jake, of course, found a ball!

Katrina with her candy stash after the Trunk or Treat at the church and some neighborhood trick-or-treating!

After a long day, the couch works just as well as any bed! Us parents were just glad to get any of our sugar "high" kids to fall asleep! Leyna fell asleep on a chair in the living room, Jake fell asleep as I rocked him and watched TV and Katrina and John stayed up to 11:30 playing Pokeman cards in their room until we finally had to put our foot down and tell them to go to sleep! They were out within minutes.

Overall, Halloween was a fun day!

  2. Sierra thought she had to sit on the table also to get the "perfect scooping form"
