Cubscouts

For those of you who don't know, I've been in Scouts for 14 months now. In the ward in Peoria I was a Wolf Den leader for 8 months and then when we moved to our current ward I was called as the Cubmaster and Doug was called as the Committee Chairman. At first I was not too overjoyed with the prospect of being in Scouts, except for the fact I could spend more time with my son. I didn't realize how much time it involved either. I have to say though that I have really enjoyed it. It is so fun to plan pack meetings and see the happiness of the boys as they achieve their goals and receive awards. It is so easy to love these boys as you serve them and to love the leaders as you work along with them. I'm not sure if Doug and I have really learned to work together any better, but then what all is the Committee chairman supposed to do anyway- besides the record keeping part of it and making sure we have committee meetings? :) He has been very patient with me, as I tend to try and take over everything. As many of you know, we are actively looking to finally buy a house in the valley and much stress has been upon us. As we have been getting closer to moving out of another ward again and uprooting our family again, I have been contemplating what all I'll miss about our latest place. (Gee, I'm starting to sound like I'm competing with Rachel and Dan on the moving thing) :) The biggest thing that has been a sad spot in my heart is leaving the Cubscouts in this ward. It has been a challenge to bring the scouting program in line with BSA standards, as this ward didn't have much support or resources for cubscouts when we moved here. I pray that they will find good leaders to replace us and to keep supporting and giving these boys all that they deserve in the scouting program. They are an awesome group of boys and their leaders, particuarlly Aimee and Lawrette, are the best in the world! Keep on keeping on and always, always Do your Best!

  1. I am proud of you Didi for gaining a testimony of scouts. I still have a ways to go. And I'm sure you'll leave things in great condition before you go!
