I'm curious to know what other people did for Labor Day this year.? I hear a lot of people stayed close to home what with the gas prices and all. I suppose if you live near family that would be great. I wish we had family nearby. *sigh* Our Labor Day was not too happy. First, the house needed to be cleaned since we were out looking at houses most of Saturday and then had playdates and such after that. Sunday was our day of rest and so things had piled up. The kids were in all out protest to doing this of course and the arguing and complaining began. Doug was in the garage doing something with his motorcycle of course. Okay, he came in and helped Katrina with her room for a bit. :) After cleaning, Doug tried to get the kids out doing something active in the miserably hot weather, but that lasted maybe 15 min. after going through the process of pumping up bike tires that had gone flat. So, the TV and computer were the main attractions for the day. Those of you who have a boy in the age group of 7-10 or so might know something about Pokemon. John and his friends are loyally obsessed with
Pokemon. They have the capability to know all different types, what they do, how they battle, what and when to use them and such things as Level X, Lengend, and so on. Don't ask my son to memorize his math facts, but boy does he know his Pokemon. Oh, and just so you know, the 500+ cards he has is not enough because he needs to have certain ones. Well, it just so happens that on one of the cartoon channels yesterday they had an all day Pokemon marathon ending with the movie "The Rise of Darkai" at 8:00 p.m. We allowed John an hour in the morning and then he convinced us for some more after cleaning, and of course he had to watch the Mystery Dungeon one and the main movie. So our day began and ended with Pokemon. We did manage a BBQ in there, but we were so happy when it was time to go to bed. Please tell me that others of you had a better day!

Ours wasn't too much more eventful then yours...we spent most of the day cleaning which seems contradictory on Labor day! I wanted to do something, but no one could decide what to do, so by 4:00 we finally took the kids to the park, where there happened to be family reunion of 500. It was a little crammed. We managed to grill as well. Pictures to follow.
ReplyDeleteDidi, I didn't realize you had moved out of your Peoria home. Where do you live now? You can email it to me if you don't want the entire universe to know.
