Happy Birthday Douglas!

Doug was born February 10, 1964 on the naval base in Norfolk, West Virginia, while his Dad was finishing up his service in the navy.

Fishing in Wisconsin is a favorite pasttime. Doug's Dad started early teaching him how to fish.

Doug loves to do anything outdoors- fish, camp, hike, dirtbike, etc. etc. etc.

Doug as a Cub Scout. He loved scouting and always wished he could have continued on and gotten his Eagle. Unfortunately, money was tight in the family and he wasn't able to, but he is able to now serve in the Cub Scout program and help his sons!

Doug is the oldest on the left ,then curt (3rd), Pam, and Amy (2nd).

Doug on left as a teenager with his Grandma Hollaus and cousin. Back then, dark, tinted glasses were the cool thing, as well as long hair and V-neck shirts (I have a pic of him in one of those too!)
Doug was converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1992 and he caught my eye at the Young Single Adult Branch in Buffalo Grove, Illinois one Sunday in 1994 when he gave a talk and the spirit led me to introduce myself to him. We saw each other a couple times before I left for college and both knew we were to marry. I came back after a semester, we had our first real date and he proposed that weekend. Below is a picture of us that Christmas, with my adorably cute step-daugther Holly. She was 4 then.

Some of the things I most admire and love about my husband are:

1. His great love for his children. He is an awesome father! He is more than happy to spend time with them, play with them, take care of them, and nurture them. It is amazing how much those kids love and adore their father in return. He has always been there for his children.


2. He has an amazing work ethic and a great sense of responsiblity and frugality. He works very hard to provide for our family.


3. He can fix just about anything- and will find out how if he can't.


4. He can be a big goof ball , which makes me laugh. He always knows hoe to make me smile.


5. He is very creative.


6. He can find or see the good in anyone.


7. He has a strong testimony of the gospel and of Christ, and lives his life to reflect that.


8. He will help anyone in need if he is able and does so.


9. We share the same dreams for our family and for service to others. Faith and prayer can work miracles.


10. He is a wonderful husband and the love of my life. How blessed I am to share this life with him and I know when he reads this he will be cringing with the mushiness. :) Sorry honey, I love you and hope your birthday is great!
