Kutie Katrina

Okay, I know you've all been waiting for it - my tribute to Katrina. She will be 8 on Saturday and baptised on Sunday with her friend Elena. I can't believe another one of my kids is old enough to be baptised. Where does the time go anyway?!

Katrina was born Feb 28th and weighed 7 lb 13 oz. She was so excited for Holly and her bridging ceremony to Jr. Girl Scouts that my contractions started coming 10 min. apart at the ceremony and we had to leave early. I'm just glad my water waited to break until we got home. Katrina was our darkest baby- in skin coloring and hair color.

She was a very happy little baby and had a touch of red highlights in her hair, just like Mommy did when she was a baby.
If her ears pointed, she's look just like a little pixie or elf. (I heard that a lot)

You can't talk about Katrina when she was little without making note of her comfort item. She didn't attach herself to a blankie, or a stuffed animal, or suck her thumb or a pacifyer - she sucked her two little fingers. She was unique from the beginning.
(She is 1 years old in this picture)

When Katrina turned 2, we saw the beginning of her daring, active nature. She wasn't going to be outdone by her older siblings! Up the monkey bars she climbed!

We love painting in our house - some are just more fond of it than others. Katrina never had any qualms about getting messy or dirty whatsoever. (See John behind her- he would come to me crying to get the paint or dirt off his hands) I vividly remember that day- paint was everywhere all over the porch. I pulled out the little wading pool, put some bubble bath in it, stripped her down (along with Rebecca if I remember right and then John had to join too of course) and washed her right there before she could step foot in the house.
At 3-years-old we moved to Arizona and so sand angels were all the rage.

4-years-old brought swim lessons and she lives up to her birth sign of Pisces, because she loves water; especially playing and swimming in it.

We also had our Big vacation to Sea World that year and she got to see the ocean for the first time and play in real sand. She was so absorbed in the sand that she played for hours (she could get wet and messy!)

5-years-old she started Kindergarten

and got to be a Kookaburra in the annual Australia play.
Katrina also loves to dance and sing. She took dance all year and at the end of the year, at age 6, she was in her first dance performance. They did Beauty and the Beast.

Katrina is an excellent big sister. She has a great love for babies and little children and always want to help out and "mother" them.

Below is a recent picture of her from the Greek festival they did in her grade at school last friday. She is doing her typical cutsie look. Katrina is such a spunky, loving, wonderful girl. She has a great love for all people and wants to be friends with everyone. She is very active and creative and really excels in math and problem solving. She is very excited to get baptised next Sunday. We are so grateful to have her in our family.

Happy Birthday Katrina! We love you!

  2. Ditto Callie. It always seems your own kids are the only ones growing up while their friends will stay the same age forever! Congrats Katrina on your bday and baptism.
